Using user picker custom fields for approval

This section exemplifies how to configure the Approval add-on so that users selected on an user picker custom field are required to “approve” a specific request for a specific workflow step. In this example, the workflow transition is blocked until all users selected on the user picker custom field have approved the issue.

Navigate to the Add-Ons Panel within your JIRA installation and click on Approval Administration to manage Approvals.

Click on Add New Approval.

Select the user picker custom field on whom to base the creation of required for approvals.

You are allowed to select a single or a multiple user picker custom field.

Configure the specific workflow transition to be blocked until all the users selected on the custom field set on the configured Approval have been approved.

The illustrated configuration can be set on an overall Approval Mapping as on a specific issue via the Define Approvals screen available on the view of the issue.

Display the required approvals based on the users selected on the user picker custom field.

Using group picker custom fields for approval

This section exemplifies how to configure the Approval add-on so that the groups selected on a group picker custom field are required to “approve” a specific request for a specific workflow step. In this example, the workflow transition is blocked until at least an user for each group selected on the group picker custom field have approved the issue.
